This low slung vase with a tall neck is part of a series made over winter, with muted colours that emphasise the texture and quality of the clay. The rough clay used for the body of the vase was coated in several layers of smooth clay that were then carved through to create a pattern that can be seen and felt through the glaze. The naked clay at the top of the neck provides interesting contrast with the glazed surface.
